Malshej Ghats the famous monsoon destination needs no introduction to Mumbaikars and Punekar. Just a few kilometers away lay the village of Khireshwar. The village gives spectacular view of Harischandragad with its citadel and Taramati peak.
Malshej Ghats is a perfect weekend getaway for every Mumbaikar and Punekar. The trip where your mobile phones won’t work and you can just dwell in Nature.The place is located between Pune and Thane district. And it is untouched. There are not many hotels and resorts to stay also there’s no proper options for food accept MTDC’s resort.
Malshej is known for its waterfall and greenery all over the place.The best way to enjoy this place is through camping and best time to visit the place is Monsoon season.
I went with two of my friends Ansu and Akshay . We started our journey from Palava (Dombivli). The journey was of 2-3 hours. The monsoon clouds were super busy with their assigned work and we enjoyed our car journey with rain and melodious songs.
The entire journey was very picturesque with ghat routes, dam and greenery and too many waterfalls.We took our first pit stop in the first fall. The way to the first waterfall goes through few steps and through a lower tier of the waterfall. It’s a 2 tiered fall and one of the most powerful falls from Malshej Ghat.
Another beautiful tiered fall can be seen from here. We enjoyed this fall and then went ahead to witness more waterfalls. We found various scenic locations on your way up where we stopped and click photos.
We set our camp on the bank of the lake.That place was so chill compared to Mumbai city. The cliffs of the mountains, the water falls and the forests make the ghats an enchanting place. We got a feeling of being rejuvenated by just visiting the place and staying amidst Mother Nature.
Camping food provided was really good. We had barbecue, thing without which any camp is incomplete. There were many other families there too, In night we enjoyed with bonfire,we all got together under the camp fire and sang songs and played lots of games and also had stargazing too.
During morning we can only see clouds running after one another .The temperature was little cold out there especially at the morning. We really enjoyed the morning weather .
After spending sometime exploring nearby place around the lake side , we had our breakfast and tea and started our journey back to Mumbai .
